“International Walk to School Day” 👟
Wednesday, October 2nd
DHES is participating in the 23rd Annual Walk to School Day. Students and their families are invited to walk or ride a bike to school.
Participants are asked to fill out, color and return the Walk to School Day “shoe” that was sent home in Friday Folders. Not only is this a fun way to start the day, our school also earns funds for participating! Click to read more about the benefits of walking to school [English] [Español].
PTC VPs of Community, Denise Nichols and Mark Sanders, will be serving free coffee from CRAFT Donuts + Coffee behind the school. Stop by and grab a cup!
September 20 until October 14
The 7th Annual Dundee Highlands Read-A-Thon is underway!
Week 1 Reading Logs were due Monday. (Students should turn it into their teacher ASAP if they haven’t already.) The Week 2 Reading Log was sent home with your student in last week’s Friday Folder and will be due next Monday. The Week 3 (final) Reading Log and the Pledge Sheet will be due October 15. Click here if you need an additional copy of any of these documents.
Watch for stats on which class logged the most reading minutes in Week 1, coming later this week. In addition to individual awards for minutes read and pledges collected, the top 3 classes that log the most minutes read by October 15 will win some awesome classroom prizes!
The purpose of this event is to encourage our students to develop a lifelong love of reading while raising money to support our school. 100% of the money raised by the Read-a-Thon goes toward activities and initiatives at Dundee Highlands! Encourage your student to contact family and friends via text with this quick and easy pledge card.
The following teachers are in need of Room Parents: Mrs. Raue, Mrs. Rupnick and Mrs. Rotenberry. Room Parent responsibilities include, coordinating volunteers for classroom parties or other needs at the teacher’s request, and organizing teacher gifts (i.e., birthday, holiday) and Teacher Appreciation Week activities (guidance provided by the Room Parent Coordinator).
