Our deepest gratitude goes out to you for your patience, kindness, integrity and your amazing talent to mold young minds, not only in the classroom, but now from afar. Appreciation Days đ¤
Nurse Appreciation Day
Wednesday, May 6th
Nurse Sue is working extra hard to support continued health and well-being of our staff, students, and families. While we are sad that we will not be reunited in person this school year, we are so proud of the hard work Nurse Sue does to keep us safe and cared for all year long and during our current e-learning environment.
Teacher Appreciation Week

Here is the teacher appreciation schedule for the week:

Wednesday: |
Treat Day Our teachers and staff will receive a power lunch, special treats and fun surprises from the Dundee Highlands office and PTC. |
Thursday: |
Teacher Spirit Day Send your teacher a picture of you in your best superhero pose with their favorite sports team** apparel or colors on. |
Friday: |
Super Thank You & Class Gift Send a note of appreciation to your teacher. (Donât forget your childâs special teachers too). Parents can contribute to their childâs teacher class gift via the website Gift Crowd https://www.giftcrowd.com/#/event/abR808-ob3 * |
* If you are able to donate to the class gift you can find your childâs teacher and special teachers listed. By clicking âJoinâ next to a teacherâs name you can add a message and your contribution to that teacher. Names and messages will be visible to the teacher but not the individual contribution made.
** Click here to access the spreadsheet with all the teacherâs favorites.
Teacher Appreciation Week Slideshow!
Please submit a photo(s) or super short video for a slideshow dedicated to the hardworking teachers of DHES! This includes both classroom teachers and âspecialsâ teachers.
Have your student prepare a short message of appreciation, by making a sign and taking a photo with it, or by recording a short video (10 seconds maximum). For a challenge, we encourage your student to tell their teacher what makes their class extra special, or what they feel are their teachersâ super powers. We will compile these into a video slideshow that will be shared on the PTC Facebook page and shared directly with all of the teachers at DHES.
Submit your photo(s) or video by Sunday, May 3 at dhesptc.org/teacher-appreciation-2020, and watch for the slideshow later that week.
Thank you for helping make this a really special week for our Superhero Teachers!!

Planning for Next Year âď¸
PTC Board Elections 2020 - 2021 school year
The time has come to elect officers for next yearâs PTC Board. A vote will be conducted at the May 12th PTC Meeting (via video conference). Click here to read more about the qualifications to hold a Board position, an overview of each position on the Board, and the current slate of candidates.
While active members are encouraged to run for any position on the Board, based on the eligibility of current Board members, there are 2 positions for which there are currently no candidates: VP of Community and Secretary of Technology. More information on these positions is included below.
VP of Community
The VP of Community oversees events / initiatives that strengthen family-school connections, ensuring that Committee Chairs are in place and empowered to succeed. The specific initiatives for which this position is responsible may change from year to year. Some examples include Mother/Son and Daddy/Daughter events, staff appreciation, Fall Fest, Movie Night, end of the year celebrations, room parent communications and more.
The VP of Community is second in command and performs the duties of the President in their absence or inability to serve. In the event that there is no nominee for the position of President at the time of voting, the VP of Community, being presumably the best qualified, shall be required to fill the position of President for the following year.
Secretary of Technology
The Secretary of Technology manages the PTCâs online and social media solutions while promoting and implementing digital efficiencies, and supports the Executive Board and committee members in accessing and utilizing digital solutions.
Based on current solutions in place, candidates should have experience with WordPress development and administration, Google apps, and html/css coding, and be generally knowledgeable about tech solutions.
If you have questions or would like to submit your name for a position, please contact us at d300.dhes.ptc@gmail.com. Candidates are asked to provide a brief summary of their qualifications, to potentially include relevant personal and/or professional experience and an overview of PTC experience.
Committee Chair sign-up for 2020 - 2021 school year
Any member of the Dundee Highlands PTC may sign up to chair any committee. That includes all parents/guardians of DHES students and all DHES teachers and staff. Opportunities to get involved in committees will be provided again next school year, but some extra lead time is helpful, especially for events and activities that occur very early on in the school year.
Listed below are the events and initiatives that take place early in the school year. Please contact us at dhes.ptc.president@gmail.com if you are interested in getting involved with any of these activities.
